Here are some tips and know-how for a smoother, hassle-free travel experience:

Before you board:

  • TSA now requires the passenger's names to exactly match those on the passport, including hyphens, apostrophes, and initials. When you book through travel agency, make sure to provide the name exactly how it appears on your passort
  • Secure Flight Program requires the passenger's birthdate to put into all reservations.  When booking flights through a travel agent, it is necessary to provide the birthdate infomation.
  • Get rid of the clutters on your carry-on bags to avoid delays at security check point due to complicated X-ray image
  • Keep liquids in checked baggage
  • Take anything of metals such as coins, keys, phones, pagers out of your pockets and put them in your carry-on bag
  • Try to avoid wearing anything of metal such as jewelry, clothing with metal buttons or belt buckles
  • Weigh the bags you are checking in before you leave home.  Although numbers are improving, the scales used to weigh checked bags at the airport are not always dead-on. Also it would help if you observe the scale as your bag is weighed

On board:

Your personal belonging inside of your carry-on bags are not always safe.  Night and red-eye travelers are more likely to be the victims of flight pickpockets due to long flights and fatigue:

  • Choose an overhead bin above your seat or close to your seat so you can keep an eye on it.

  • Place the zipper towards the back.  Thieves would not want to draw attention by wrestling around with your bags.

  • Keep your valuables as close to you as possible while taking a nap

  • Check to see you have all your belongings before you land. Let the flight attendant know if any of your belongings is missing
